Management of Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) in DPKO Missions: Associated risks and recommendations

In the course of the UN’s operations to serve humanity in DPKO Missions, it has always been very crucial to maintain clean and safe surroundings. This presentation aims at discussing hazardous material (HAZMAT) generated in DPKO missions, related exposure, effects and recommended management such as HAZMAT minimization, proper handling, storage, shipment, treatment alternatives and final disposal.  

This presentation is directed to Militaries, UNPOLs, Civilians, Recyclers and HAZMAT contractors in the United Nations-Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) missions as well as the general community.   1. Thank you for an interesting presentation. From your presentation, I researched beryllium disease. The lung disease had no cure which further emphasizes the theme of your project of proper handling of hazmats.
