Plague in the Los Angeles County Campgrounds, Exposure and Management

This presentation provides an overview of the etiological agent of plague: Yersinia pestis; its history and significance, clinical presentation, laboratory diagnosis, and management of a positive serological result of a surveillance report, which will mean closing the campground. The audiences targeted are the Los Angeles County Environmental Health Vector Program, the BioWatch team, law enforcement agencies involved in emergency response, and public health microbiologists.
