Pandemic game

If you enjoy computer games, and public health at the same time, you may want to try the game “Pandemic“. Take note, though, you are going to be the bad guy, not the good guy. The goal is to create a pandemic to infect the whole world. In creating your bug, you will learn a little about the interplay of symptoms, routes of transmission, lethality and virulence, mutation, and even public health response. Make your bug a little too lethal and the world will scramble to create a vaccine. Maybe your bug will outsmart it and mutate.  Make it waterborne, and soon countries will use bottled water. Highly transmissible-that’s nice, but watch countries start to close their borders. So, a sneaky rodent is your chosen route of transmission-you might get away with it for awhile, but soon, here comes the exterminators. The more damage you do, the more points you get to buy more “goodies” for your germ.  I managed to get most of the world infected at one point, without killing anyone. Now that was fun!
