Thank you for reading my post and responding. It is interesting that this is known as sheep tick fever and is a disease now transitioning to humans just as anthrax was once called wool sorters disease and transitioned to humans through close contact. I hope you found the powerpoint helpful.

Lyme disease is named after a cluster of cases that occurred in and around Old Lyme and Lyme, Connecticut in 1975. Before 1975, elements of Borrelia infection were also known as “tick-borne meningopolyneuritis”, Garin-Bujadoux syndrome, Bannwarth syndrome or sheep tick fever.-

Interesting presentation. One other aspect on the cholera spead was linked to local practices and bad hygienes practices. Taking in consideration local tradition is important. Organizing sensitisation training has been one the key success in the IDP camps to reduce the number of cases. Coordination was also an important aspect. Lack of information and coordination, during the first month, between the Haitian government and the UN/IO/NGO was more part of the lessons to learn.

You raised a big issue. I would suggest that efforts be made to remove potential toxic components in electronics prior to sending to landfills. This will help to reduce leaching of toxic/poisonous chemicals to water sources.

Yes precious metals can be recovered from old electronics and can be used to manufacture new items such as jewelry.

Hello Catherine, your presentation is well prepared and very informative. On slide 9,”avenues for disposing e-waste” you mentioned buring of waste in the ground and covering with soil. My concern is that as the waste decays or whatever process it goes through as time goes by will the poisonous chemicals from these electronics not sipp into the water coming from under the earth? Very well written presentation.
